HOW TO USE THIS SITE: There are a couple of useful things to know when reading through new blog posts going forward or viewing the photo galleries:

  1. This is a website about photographing things. There will be photographs!
  2. Because of #1, I wanted a good way to display the photos, so I invested in image display software by ModulaModula

These notes will acquaint you with the typical image display features I am using to enhance the viewing experience.  This applies to Gallery-style photos — even if the gallery is a single photo like the flower below – but not to regular in-line article photos. Here’s what you can expect from Gallery-style photos:

  • Thumbnail Zooming.  Hovering your mouse over a thumbnail shows a low resolution zoom of the image.
  • Full Screen Zoomable images.  When you click on a thumbnail, you will see a full screen image.  If you click on the image again, most photos will zoom in even further.  When zoomed, you can click and drag the image to examine what interests you. Clicking on a zoomed image will un-zoom it.
  • EXIF data.  When you single-click or zoom an image, the EXIF data will be displayed on the bottom-left for a few seconds.  After if disappears, to see it again just move your cursor.  Note well: Some older photos, or those taken with certain lenses, or that were already exported to JPEG without EXIF will not display EXIF data.  However, many of the Gallery photos do have EXIF, and going forward, most photos should have this data.
  • Advancing through photos.  Depending on the device you are using, when reviewing photos you can swipe forward/backward, click or tap the arrow on the left/right-side of photo, use your mouse wheel, or use your keyboard’s arrow keys.
  • Galleries. Nothing unusual here other than to let you know that there are Gallery menu items.   At the top of each page, you will see several gallery choices.  All of the above applies to these gallery photos.  The “Recent” gallery will generally include photos taken over the last 12 months.  However, when older photos are added, they will generally be added to the bottom of their respective Galleries.

I think that covers it.  Let me know if you found something I missed or have any issues or questions.

If you like what you see, please consider subscribing, and I’ll notify you when there’s a new blog post, about one or so per month (check your Junk folder for the sign-up confirmation email) — IMPORTANT: Most people will receive these in their Junk folder until they add the address Scott at ScottVincentPhoto.com to their “safe” list.

Try the above on the flower photo below and then head over to the Birds Gallery when you are ready to get started…

(Single gallery photo below: Hover mouse.  Click photo to enter gallery (of single image). Click again to zoom further. See Exif, bottom-left. Click & drag image to move it around.  Escape key or “X” in upper-right to exit gallery view)
